All our business - Working Together to promote Social Inclusion and Recovery

Self-directed Support (SDS) and Individual Budgets are becoming a key feature of Mental Health Services. Telos programmes on SDS provide a toolkit for managers and practitioners on the development and implementation of SDS through an evidence based approach drawing on the evaluation of the Mental Health pilot sites and the the practical experiences of practitoners to date. Key issues covered in a typical workshop include:

  • Principles of self-directed support and individual budgets
  • Embedding SDS into the CPA process
  • Brokerage models - what works in Mental Health Services
  • Getting the admin right
  • Empowerment and Recovery - developing imaginative and person-centered support packages
  • SDS- working with the Mental Health Act and 'Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
  • Working in Partnership with families, carers and friends

Telos believes that Mental Health staff need a clear and accessible framework as well as outcome measures which will enable practitioners from different disciplines to identify and value their achievements in the area of social inclusion. Telos programs are relevant for a range of practitioners, including staff involved in:

  • Community Mental Health Teams
  • Specialist teams, e.g. Assertive Outreach and Early Intervention Teams
  • Day Service Teams – including the statutory or third sector
  • Support, Time and Recovery Work roles
  • Approved Social Worker Training Programs
  • Ward teams
  • Rehabilitation Teams

There a number of options depending on your requirements, ranging from whole team training, through to working with a group of ‘champions’ from a variety of backgrounds together with users and carers who wish to take this agenda forward.
