Carer Assessment - a Person Centered Approach
“The Care Bill in many respects marks a quiet revolution in our attitudes towards, and expectations of, carers. At last, carers will be given the same recognition, respect and parity of esteem with those they support. Historically, many carers have felt that their roles and their own well-being have been undervalued and under-supported. Now we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to be truly acknowledged and valued as expert partners in care”
Dame Philippa Russell, Chair of Standing Commission on Carers
The Care Act 2014 requires carer assessment to be carried out in a flexible and person-centered way which genuinely reflects the wants and needs of carers.
Using our experience of training in carer assessment as well as person-centered approaches we are introducing a new day long workshop programme to equip staff both to understand the changes made by the Care Act 2014 and also understand and work with the unique needs of carers through a person centered approach in the spirit of the Care Act..In the course of the workshop delegates are introduced to a framework which enables the issues required by the Care Act to be discussed in an empathetic and transparent way. The training is geared to the procedures adopted by the agency concerned to meet the requirements of the Care Act. Click here for more information.
